PROLOGUE

Sometimes you have to stop, look around, and reassess the whole scene. Sometimes, it’s time for an UPGRAYEDD. My time is now…

SUSPENDED ANIMATION

Recently I decided to take a break from the models, I know – heresy! The reason for the break? My office looked like the environs immediately outside the apartment of Frito Pendejo from Idiocracy. When my wife and I moved to this house, I had originally planned to share the office space with my wife. It wasn’t long however before we decided that just wasn’t necessary, or even a good idea – probably. The computer was moved into the corner in the living room, and I began spreading out in the room I had claimed as my Fortress of Solitude. Therein lies the problem, the room was first intended to be split...

HEROES IN BOSTON

PROLOGUE

Normally I would talk about my hobby today, but in light of recent events I would like to take the opportunity to talk about one of my favorite cities, Boston…

A CITY BY THE SEA

When I was a boy, my father married a woman from Massachusetts. We took several trips to Boston to visit her parents and the rest of her family, and I will always remember the place and the company fondly. When you mention Boston, or even just Massachusetts there’s usually an unflattering preconception of potato eating drunkards, of bad accents, and violent behavior. For most of the people I’ve known throughout my life, their only connection to the city was through school books, television, and movies. The city features prominently in action movies and dramas like Boondock Saints and Goodwill Hunting...

Unconventional Unions

A reader asks,
“- this is actually about you and your wife. I was wondering how you two met; it’s kind of.. hmm, unconventional to get married after such a short time, and I’m kind of close to facing the same issues. So mostly about the opposition, as well. I wasn’t sure if you wanted it asked on your blog, or if you want to tell me (I fully understand if not), but I am curious nonetheless!”

You guys may remember that in the recent Goodies post I mentioned my wife and I had been married five years, and that we had only known each other for a month when we got married. Well, here’s the story…

A Little Backstory
To tell you how I met my wife I have to go back to just before I met her. Once upon a time I had female issues – I’ve got scars, both literally and figuratively...

The Exodus, part 4

On August 1st we had a fully loaded moving truck and packed it all into the dining room of the new house. As I write this, there’s a mound of boxes waiting to be unpacked and still work to be done to the rest of the house. We’ve taken this week off though, I got very sick and have been largely bed ridden. However, this week I’ll be back in action. I’m not entirely sure where the camera is so I don’t have any pictures to show atm but suffice it to say there WILL be pictures of the finished work once it’s all done. The master bedroom and living room are both basically done, I want to replace the ceiling fan in the living room however. It’s the cheapest looking white and black fan I’ve ever seen, and the pull switches don’t work on it...

The Exodus, part 3

It’s official, we got the house. We just have a few loose ends to sew up before closing. Yesterday we went to inspect the house, and this time I had the forethought to recharge the battery in the camera. Here’s a few pics of the place.

The Exodus, part 2

Last week we returned to Pine Bluff to look at houses and apartments, we actually found a house much quicker and easier than we expected. It’s a 3 bedroom 2 bath, nice sized living room, kitchen and laundry room. Covered patio with a HUGE fenced back yard. We stayed an extra day to apply for a loan locally, now it’s just a waiting game. Here’s hoping we got the loan, if not I guess it’s not the end of the world. But it would be nice to actually own a home for once. Brandy will be doing professional development next week, so hopefully we’ll find out something pretty quickly.

More coming soon…

The Exodus, part 1

As some of you may know, my wife recently accepted a teaching position and we are now in the process of relocating. I decided to keep up with it all so I could share the experience with friends, all updates will henceforth be available in this thread. Enjoy the show.

Day 1:
Yesterday we made the long trip to Pine Bluff, this is to be our new home by the end of June/early July. We stayed at an Econo Lodge last night so we could be up early to sign paperwork, tour the school, and of course, make the long trip home (so I could be back before raid time, yes I love my understanding wife who doesn’t even roll her eyes when I say “can we try to get back by 6 so I can be on to raid?”). We met with several very friendly people, infact there’s two things I’ve carried away from the whole thing. 1...
