Everybody Knows I’m Known for Dropping Science

My first record was a 45 of the Beastie Boys single “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!)” I was five when I got it. I used to stay up late on weekends and watch a show called Night Tracks with music videos, because we couldn’t get MTV where we lived. The Beastie Boys are an anachronism in hip hop, but it’s undeniable they have had a profound effect on music since their early days. Once in a great while I get the urge to listen to them, this song “Root Down” being at the top of the list.

I mentioned before that I’m working on some new features for the site, one of these is “My Arsenal”, a gallery devoted to my love of weapons. My collection is growing steadily, and with Cataclysm on the horizon I’m currently in a mad dash to obtain a few before they disappear forever. I’ve gotten the initial formatting done, and it’s coming along nicely. You can check it out by hitting the My Arsenal button to the right of the page.

In addition to the My Arsenal gallery I’m working on an update for my bio page. I’m not sure just how in depth this is going to be, but it should look quite a bit different when it’s finished. I’ve stumbled upon some screenshots from old games I used to play (EverQuest) so I’ll definitely have some new content there to check out in the very near future.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again – the attendance boss is a bitch. It’s a hard sell sometimes, getting players online to kill things this close to the end. However, it’s also important that we keep trying. Why? Because in the great war of attrition that is the pre expansion blehs, raiders that want to raid, and that are kept busy aren’t as likely to defect as soon as the new expansion finally launches. Similarly, newer players who will be with us in the new instances have a chance to really play with us, we can assess them and they can assess us. Likewise, they get a chance to mesh with the team, get to know each other, that kinda thing. These types of bonds are crucial to a raiding crew like ours. A lot of talk and planning is getting thrown around about Cata, and a definite plan of attack is forming – but that’s going to stay pretty close to the chest (for now). At any rate, we’re still trying to farm the last bit of gear people want from ICC, and to kill that baddie of baddies (The Lich King) before he becomes completely irrelevant.

Updated Info:
We’re 11/12 H ICC 25 Man, working on Lich King hard modes with other hard modes on farm. We also have Glory of the Icecrown Raider (10 Player), and what’s left after that? More loot farming and working on the 25 ICC meta.

We’re also working on some older content on our off days, farming old gear for shits and gigs.

Currently Recruiting:
» Druid – Restoration
» Paladin – Holy
» Shaman – Restoration

I’ve been hammering out a few achievements here and there, I knocked out Sporegar rep for my 30th exalted reputation this week. Likewise, my last Northrend reputations are on their way to completion as well. I’ve decided to go full tilt on the remaining dailies and knock out The Kalu’ak and The Oracles reps. Both have been Revered for some time, but I never bothered to finish them out. A couple of weeks of Dailies and they’ll both be complete. The Oracles unfortunately still haven’t seen fit to reward me with a Green Proto-Drake. In all fairness, I don’t really need the Drake, I like my ICC one. And I’ll be on a Dark Phoenix soon enough. But it’s the principal of the thing, I’ve been cracking eggs for a long LONG time now, I just want to get the drake, then I’ll switch over to Frenzyheart for the other achievement and Exalted reputation.

It should be noted too, this puts me in the home stretch for The Exalted. The Reputations I plan on knocking out for the remainder?
Cenarion Circle
Cenarion Expedition
These two will give me the Guardian of Cenarius achievement, as well as another weapon for my collection Earthwarden and another mount Cenarion War Hippogryph. And of course, another Tabard.
Aldor – Again, giving me another Tabard and the Feat of Strength Hero of Shattrath

The Bloodscalp Report
Anyone who tells you there’s no money to made this late in the expansion is a liar or stupid. I banked 20K this week without breaking a sweat, seriously 9 alchemists doing xmutes and a few scrolls here and there. That’s it… I’m now under 10K away from capping a second time. And it was all done this way, 9 transmutes, cut the gems, post them. Make a few scrolls, sell those. Sell off any extra crap like Primordials. And don’t waste gold…

Now, to be fair. I have gone a bit spendy this time around, but at this point there’s also not a lot left for me to spend my gold on. I’m definitely not going to spend gold gearing up alts. And though there are a few items here and there I have my eye on before Cataclysm launches, I’ve got ample time to get them before the end of the world gets here. So there it is, in a nutshell. I made this gold cap almost entirely with xmute/cutting, with some scrolls on the side. And my time investment per week has come out to be around two hours… 20K gold for a couple hours worth of effort seems like a pretty damned solid to me.

My plan now – complete my new gold cap and begin buying off the few things I still want. Some of these things are achievement oriented, like I still want a Battered Hilt for the achievement and for the Two Hander. Same goes for the Dalaran Ring, though I already have a group portal. It never hurts to have extra hearths. And it gives me more achievements. If you’re still trying to make gold and having problems, keep at it. There’s gold out there…

That’s all for this week, thanks for reading…

Oh man! your blog is awesome. What’s that? A twinge of jealously…nah!

My guild has some trouble with attendance every now and then. We had to make a rule that if you sign up and don’t show up on time without a *really* good excuse, you are put on standby until the RL determines that you can be put back on confirmed. Personally, if I know there is a snowball’s chance in hell that I’m going to be late, I make sure 5 different people know, just in case. As I’m normally DPS this isn’t a problem.

Regardless, managing a guild and keeping everyone happy is hard. Reward your older members, recognize the members that contribute, and above all, do what you say you are going to do. Loyalty will win out in the end.

Cenarion Circle is a pain in the ass. Plan on spending a fair amount of time in Silithus…though with your gold stockpiles, you may well get lucky and be able to buy things off the AH to speed that process up some…

For Cenarion Expedition, I just ran Steamvaults over and over again. The mobs reward rep and they also can drop a turn in item (can’t remember the name off hand) that gives you a nice pile of rep. My achievementwhore toon is enchanting/engineering … so that which I could not DE, I trashed with a repairbot.

Another option for expedition is the mobs around …Kul the Destroyer? I think that’s his name. The guy in Borean Tundra that you attack while mounted on a mammoth bull. But the little mobs around him either give Cenarion Expedition rep or drop the Ears that you can turn in for rep. And they respawn very quickly.

I’m working on Netherwing right now (finished sha’tari skyguard this last weekend)…that’s a serious drag.
