Welcome to Idle Hands, my weekly segment where I discuss conversions, painting, and strategy for the Warhammer tabletop game…
THIS WEEK
Not a whole lot has been accomplished this week, I’ve had a lot of company here and there. And I’ve got a lot of things to take care of around the house, all of that has contributed to a lack of productivity and a late post this week. The good news is I’ve had a lot of time to think of creative ways to save some money and get some stuff on the board.
WET PAINT
I decided to try using some cheap paint on the Seekers, I ended up using the Lavender shades from Duracoat’s line of paints here. A little ink helped to get the shading just right, I’m happy with the way the unit turned out. I think next I’ll tackle some Marauders so I can get my Tourney list on the table for some pics sooner rather than later…
Marauder Horsemen Finished!
After putting together the unit, I have to say I’m pretty pleased with the Scibor bases. The unit itself was pretty easy to paint, and ended up looking a bit more menacing than the traditional horse riders in my opinion, all in all a good looking unit I think.

FOR SALE
For sale models are supplied painted and ready for the tabletop unless otherwise noted. I’m always willing to discuss commission work, curious parties should contact me at my email address: [ horaxe@gmail.com ].
2 Warshrines of Khorne, one is pulled by 2 Juggernauts, other by 4 Bloodletters.

COMING SOON
I’ve got a lot of plans coming up, a lot of models I plan on doing and even some light carpentry! But more than anything, with school fast approaching I have to get into gear fixing up the nursery, that means less time for the minis, but more time for the mini me when he gets here…
THE FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE
I’ve got a lot of things to do in the garage before it’s ready for gaming, but I’ve been thinking more and more about how I want my gaming table set up. I’ve settled on an 8ft by 4ft surface, the top will have a hex grid under plexi glass. There will be 3 slide out shelves along each side of the table, a perfect place for gamers to organize their Player’s Handbooks, Character Sheets, etc. Each of these has a smaller slide out shelf with 2 cup holders each, perfect for keeping drinks, snacks, or dice out of the way and easily accessible. There will also be a larger pull out shelf at the head of the table for the GM (me), this should provide a great play area for me and my friends.
Additionally, I’ll have a reversible warhammer table top that will fit on top of the existing surface. One side will be a snow covered wasteland, the other side will likely be a ruined city scape for 40K.
TERRAIN
Warriors of Chaos definitely strike me as a very Celtic army, I have tried to add a bit of a Viking influence certainly in some of the conversions I’ve done (my BSB for instance). So, one of the first pieces of Terrain I want to tackle is a viking long house, AKA Jorvaskur.

If you haven’t played Skyrim before, that’s the home of a group of mercenary werewolves known as the Companions, a perfect home for a unit of Skin Wolves. I’ve got some ideas to make this happen, but it’s going to be a while.
MODELS
I’ve got a lot of conversions in store for the next couple of weeks, I have a lot of Kneadite to use up and I’ve got some ideas for making one boxed model from GW go a bit further, more on that next week. Additionally, I’ve got some other conversion projects to work on, below is what I’ve got in mind.
■ Daemon Prince
■ Throgg
■ 6x Trolls
■ 2x Warshrine – These will be modular, using magnets I’ll have different items to place on the Shrines to represent various marks.
■ 2x Shaggoths
■ 2x Hellcannon
