The Other Side…
My Cataclysm Setup
Things have gone through a bit of a revision, if you read the Altocaust post I made a few weeks ago the table will be familiar. However, as said before – changes, they happened.
What’s Different
In the original table I had two accounts, both were horde. And there were only four classes present on the second account. Now, there’s ten classes on the second account and every character on that account is Alliance. I’ve also toyed with professions on the original account a bit, in an attempt to get everything just the way I want it. Having this setup means I can really tinker with things and try out methods on both ends of the spectrum (Horde outnumber Alliance grossly on Bloodscalp). So in the end, this should provide some invaluable information for my upcoming gold guide. As well as giving me the opportunity to run with friends in Draconic Savant when not raiding with Face on Fire.
This means that I’ve decided to stop messing around on other servers, there’s plenty of exotic flora and fauna on the Alliance side to keep my interest. So, this week I begin the mass exodus of characters (some nearly forgotten) on other servers to fill my stables on the alliance side. Also, a special thanks to Rubine for hooking me up with Collector’s Editions (both BC and Wrath) for my alliance account. It should go without saying that my spending at this point is going a little retarded, I’m building up the second account so that it can be self sustaining, as well as retooling my main account.
This gives me some professions to power level as well as some new characters and new sights to see before Cataclysm. You’ll note that in this final list Skinning is gone, the reason for this is that once I get Leatherworking capped maintaining it is much easier than it is to maintain Smithing, Engineering, and 3 Jewelers without Mining, or nine Alchemists and a Scribe without Herbalism. This week I’ll be transfering my Shaman and Druid from my old account to the alliance one along with a little seed money, this should get me going down the road of win on the alliance side…
| HORDE ACCOUNT | ALLIANCE ACCOUNT | ||||
| Class | Profession 1 | Profession 2 | Class | Profession 1 | Profession 2 |
| Death Knight | Enchanting | Jewelcrafting | Death Knight | Enchanting | Jewelcrafting |
| Druid | Alchemy | Jewelcrafting | Druid | Alchemy | Jewelcrafting |
| Hunter | Alchemy | Engineering | Hunter | Alchemy | Engineering |
| Mage | Alchemy | Inscriptions | Mage | Alchemy | Inscriptions |
| Paladin | Alchemy | Jewelcrafting | Paladin | Alchemy | Jewelcrafting |
| Priest | Alchemy | Tailoring | Priest | Alchemy | Tailoring |

| Shaman | Alchemy | Herbalism | Shaman | Alchemy | Herbalism |
| Warlock | Alchemy | Mining | Warlock | Alchemy | Mining |
| Warrior | Alchemy | Blacksmithing | Warrior | Alchemy | Blacksmithing |
Should keep me busy till Cataclysm is released.
The Third Account
I actually have about twelve wow accounts (I used to be a very serious multiboxer), right now only three of my accounts are active: The Horde Account (Main), Alliance Account (Alt), and my Sales Account. I have 2 main AH alts for each faction (Horde and Alliance) with one of these being in my Alt Guilds I can easily transfer goods to them for listing on my laptop while I play on one of my Horde or Alliance characters.
Later I will be detailing my full setup, which I think should prove interesting to others looking to make their own empire.
More Thoughts on Cataclysm
Alchemy and Jewelcrafting are going to continue to be strong in Cataclysm, I think my current setup should easily generate more than sufficient gold per day with little effort (beyond the initial start up) which is what I’m going for. I do have some other thoughts about the professions and gold making in the expansion, but that will be for another time when I’m more sure of what I have to say.
The Bloodscalp Report
Horde
Prices on major commodities have gone up, this is no doubt in very large part due to a recent ban wave and Warden update that removed a currently unknown quantity of botters from the market. Say what you like about the moralities or legalities of the practice, but botters do actually keep the price on materials pretty low. And when they’re gone, you do feel it.
Alliance
Prices have gone weird actually, because it seems that some things have actually gotten cheaper Alliance side as a result. Again, this is probably due to the lack of botters. With the disparity between faction populations, it’s reasonable to assume that most botters are “likely” on the Horde side. And so, the ban wave effected Horde markets more severely than Alliance.
A final note on Saronite, thank you. I made out like a bandit from the recent ore to bar disparity. Things are back to something resembling normal in that area now.
Khaas the Insane

Thank you for this. People look at me like I’ve gone mad when they see my layout for Cataclysm, but now I can send them here to see someone even more mad than I. (I have a lot more Tailors planned than you do, however. I’d be interested in seeing more on your take on Cataclysm profession.)
Thanks Zamboni. Yeah, originally I was thinking of doing more Tailors, and I may add some more still (I’ve got all those character slots on account 3). But time will tell, my main focus right now is finishing off the final touches on my Horde Account and then working on my Alliance Account.
As for the new profession stuff, I’m working on a big post on that very topic.
