Summer Here Kids

It’s Officially Summer
And that brings with it a few things: first, as far as WOW is concerned, it means a massive influx of kids playing at all hours of the day. To the point, this morning I woke up at 5 AM and was able to get my weekly done on 3 characters, consecutively. Last week, I would’ve been hard pressed to get it finished on Khaas. This week however, there were multiple groups clamoring to finish. Hell, at 9 this morning there was an ICC 25 GDKP starting. This influx of activity is going to have some ramifications for me and my peers, but more on that in a minute. I have other things to talk about before I get to the gold report.

Insanity
As mentioned in my previous post, I’ve Lost My Mind. I finally completed the Insane in the Membrane achievement. After a little look around, it turns out I’m the only Death Knight on Bloodscalp with this title. Which is cool, but it has caused some interesting whispers, in the main people are wanting to know wtf it comes from, etc. Typical curiosity and little more, though I did get a couple of more “aggressive” messages, similar to when I first got Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros.

On that note, I’ve gotten a nod from Saate who keeps a sort of “wall of fame” for those who’ve completed the achievement. Similarly, wowhead.com has my Insane in the Membrane screenshot posted for the achievement (screenshot #10). As I said earlier, I’ve had a fair amount of questioning about the achievement. People want to know how I accomplished it, and if I had any tips. So, here goes…

First, if you’re serious about completing this achievement I would bookmark Saate.net, to the right of his blog he has links to guides for each of the factions necessary to complete the achievement. The guides themselves are thorough, and specific. As there are sometimes multiple approaches to a specific faction (the Goblins in particular) this thorough coverage is just what you need to make an informed decision about your own grind.

There’s only one thing I would really add to the obvious and Saate’s guides, because it’s obvious that having alts is going to help and making friends may help even more. But one thing in particular, when doing the Ravenholdt grind you’ll be dealing with a lot of Heavy Junkboxes. Once you get around the problem of juggling massive quantities of Junkboxes you have to figure out how to manage these turn ins, which can in itself be a royal pain, but there is a way around the annoyance. The two macros below are just what the doctor ordered, first you right click the quest giver then click Macro 1 twice. This will accept and turn in the quest, then click Macro 2. This macro will delete the Dusktsteel Throwing Knives that will otherwise quickly clutter your bags.

Macro 1 – Turn In Quest
/script SelectGossipAvailableQuest(1); CompleteQuest(); GetQuestReward();

Macro 2 – Delete Knife
/run for bag = 0,4,1 do for slot = 1, 32, 1 do local name = GetContainerItemLink(bag, slot); if name and string.find(name,”Dusksteel Throwing Knife”) then PickupContainerItem(bag, slot); DeleteCursorItem(); end; end; end

As you can imagine, these two macros along with a MOLL-E or an upgraded Argent Squire you can quickly expedite the turn in process.

The Bloodscalp Report
As I said before, I’ve taken a little bit of a break from the AH game, but I’ve been keeping an eye on things lately. And I’m beginning to get more involved in the market again. There are a few things that I’m definitely keeping an eye on, in particular my thoughts are that with the a fore mentioned influx of “youngsters” I foresee an incoming influx of farmed materials. This morning for instance, I found enough Adder’s Tongue stacks to fill a bank tab with ink, at an obscenely low 10g per stack. As you might imagine, it took much longer to mill these herbs than it took me to decide if I wanted to buy them…

What I’m saying is this: stay frosty, though there appear to be less reliable farmers these days, the kids are home and deals can be found if you’re willing to look.

That’s it for this week, thanks for reading…

“though I did get a couple of more “aggressive” messages, similar to when I first got Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros”

Oooh interesting! Tell me more about the aggressive folks? Is it just sour grapes and trying to devalue your achievement? Kinda like the youtube comment I got for getting Thunderfury on my druid?

@Saate – It was similar, people pissed because they “can’t” get it themselves, and a Death Knight got it before them of all things. Since you know, I started out at zero, whereas if they were long time players (which for some seemed to be the case) they weren’t even half way through. The best one though was, “FUCK YOU! FUCK YOUR TITLE! AND FUCK BLIZZARD!”

    Some people…

It does reinforce my belief that the larger achievements in the game (gold cap, insane, etc) will not be reached by most, not because they’re magically difficult, but because most people lack the drive to accomplish said tasks.

@Aahz – Already solod Sarth in 10 man, just need to wreck his ass in 25. I will be doing more stuff like this soon though, including some work on 10 icc bosses and such (I sincerely believe there’s a couple I can trounce, at least in 10).

The truth is though, I just haven’t been doing much lately in game, it’s mostly been work on the guild site. And work on a new “project” I’ve been contacted about.
