It’s no secret that my wife has been pregnant, in recent months it’s definitely become nigh impossible to hide really. A couple of weeks ago (the 9th) I got a call from my wife, she’d been feeling bad and decided to go to the doctor. She was admitted to the hospital and before long we had an understanding, my wife was going to be relegated to bed rest until the baby was born. Over the weekend she was released to go home under strict orders for bed rest, then Tuesday happened (again)…
I’d been monitoring her vitals per the doctors instructions, and that day everything started to look a little rough. She had a borderline fever, her extremities and face were swollen, and her blood pressure was hypertension level. I got her to the ER and she was admitted to the hospital again, this time it was clear she was going to be in the hospital until the baby came which was likely sooner rather than later.
Throughout the week we went from imminent C Section to Induction any day, eventually it became apparent that our doctor was stalling for time. Unfortunately, he’d made it quite clear already that he wanted that baby out soon or later if we were to avoid any health concerns with my wife. Then on Thursday my wife informed the doc that she didn’t think she could handle waiting all weekend for the induction, so preparations were made an at 10:49 A.M. Friday my son was born.
What’s 19 inches long and makes women gasp with pleasure? My son…He’s a hairy bastard and he apparently has HUGE balls, seriously – they thought it was adema. Turns out he just has gigantic testicles. And a proud tradition of embarrassing my child publicly begins! Currently, he’s in the NICU and my wife is in recovery, my wife is likely going to be released tomorrow and my son is doing well. Originally, they had him on oxygen to clear away some fluid built up in his lungs as well as to teach him to breathe, they’ve removed him from oxygen entirely and even removed him from external heat (once they figured out he runs hot like his dad that wasn’t a problem). Now, they’re trying him on his first actual bottle and if that works he’ll be coming home. So, it looks like Monday we may have the entire family at the house for the first time.
As you might have guessed, this explains my recent absence and it certainly means my presence will be diminished in the weeks to come. But, I’ve got plans. And before you know it, you’ll see some fun new things on the site. And certainly more than a photobomb or two from the little Peanut.
