THE BLESSINGS OF NURGLE

Recently I was promoted to Moderator status on the Chamber of the Everchosen forums, a great honor. Better still, there seems to be overwhelming support of my becoming an Admin. Being so empowered has led me to revisit old ideas I had, such as a thread that acts as a basic overview of opposing armies, listing strengths, weaknesses, and some ideas for how to deal with them. I call it the Warlord’s Field Manual, additionally now that it’s pinned I’ll be back to work on The Book of War, a companion book offering general tactics and strategy. The Compendium Chaotica has also been pinned and will receive some more polish as time goes on, there ...

EBAY, A TAIL OF FAILURE

Category: GamesWarhammer Comments: No comments

Since returning to Warhammer I’ve quickly learned the value of eBay, it’s supplied me with piles of bits and miniatures for my armies. In the past year I’ve developed a certain attachment with specific sellers, two in particular have given me nothing but top notch service time and again. That is until one of them let me down a few weeks ago…

WHAT WENT BEFORE

In the past year I’ve bought bits repeatedly, I have several that I buy in bulk to keep on hand. Skulls for example are almost always needed, same with tentacles from the Chaos Spawn, etc. It’s little wonder then that I have certain sellers I prefer...

THIS WEEK

It’s Spring Break, that means my wife is home for the week. Home life is good, my son is now five months old and growing more independent. Also, with Spring Break here I can finally get outside and start thinking about summer. With that said, I’ll be turning my attention back to my armies in earnest. My goal is to get 1-2 units finished per week. There will be a fair amount of back and forth between the Warriors and Ogres, as I’d like to get them both painted up pretty quickly. And after this week, I’ve got only a few models left for the Warriors to be finished – so I’m feeling good about that.

THIS WEEK

I’ve been all over the place this week, both literally and figuratively. An old friend died over the weekend, so I spent the early part of last week out of town to attend the funeral. I got home and slowly got back to work, in the past two weeks I spent a little time on all three of my armies. It’s about time to focus though, I need to get an army in fighting shape, it’s just a question of which one. We’ll see where the dice land…

As stated earlier, I did take my first shambling steps with the Vampire Counts army...

THIS WEEK

I’ve spent the past couple of weeks coming to grips with the new Warriors of Chaos army book, I’ll admit it’s definitely taken away from my time working on actual models. I’ve gone through roughly 10-15 different iterations of my main list, but I’ve narrowed things down to a point where I feel pretty confident in my army. Meanwhile, I’ve gotten a little work done on my Ogres, and I’ve just about got everything I want/need for my Warriors and Vampires, with such low model counts in the Ogre and Chaos armies I suspect I’ll be working on the Vampires before too terribly long.

Meanwhile, I’m trying to get my office back in order...

THIS WEEK

It’s time for something completely different, well mostly different. As I said last week, I’ve got a lot planned this year, and to start I want to get my Ogre army off the ground. This week, I spent a lot of time cleaning pieces and assembling units for my 2500pt list. Getting to grips with these has raised a few questions though, and I’m in the process of resolving the issues that have arisen (Mournfangs and Sabretusks in particular). But first, let’s take a second look at the list itself…

This is an MSU style list, there are 11 drops so deployment will actually be in my favor most of the time...

THE KILLING FIELD

Category: GamesWarhammer Comments: No comments

It has been several weeks since my last update, I have been preparing for the Shiloh Slaughter. This weekend I and all of my preparations were put to the test, so how did it go?

PREFACE

There are a few things I would like to get out of the way before we get into the meat of this thing, for starters this will be a somewhat abridged review of the weekend in general. I do have notes that I will be using to write up Battle Reports from my five games, but that will be later. Those will likely be presented individually as I intend to go into them in some detail. Additionally, I’d like to thank Brian Preece of T Shirt Explosion and the volunteers that worked so hard to make this a great weekend. And last, but certainly not least – I’d like to thank my opponents...

THIS WEEK

To say life has been interesting in recent weeks would be a massive understatement, my son was born as I mentioned last week. Both he and my wife are both still at the hospital, he was a month early so an extended stay wasn’t exactly a surprise. Eventually, things settled into a routine and it was apparent that my wife would be staying and that I was going to go back home. I’d like to mention also, my son is doing quite well. They’ve taken him off of the IV, he’s eating well and improving daily. He’s off of phototherapy and digesting fine on his own, he’s shaping up to come home before long, and I’ll be happy to have him and his mom here finally.

While ...
