THE END IS HERE

Welcome to Business as Usual, the weekly segment on all that glitters.
REPENT!
Patch 4.1 is being released today, and with it there are some significant changes that Goblins everywhere need to be aware of. First, and possibly most significant is the change being made to vendor values of Uncommon Gems, as I mentioned in a previous post: cut commons have been selling to vendors for 9g each. This created a strategy whereby a Jeweler could buy up Obsidium (and to a lesser degree Elementium) Ores, prospect them, cut the commons and vendor them for profit. Of course any and all Rare Gems produced were just icing on the cake.
The strategy is not terribly efficient, providing somewhere along the lines of 1-2K gold per hour. But what it lacks in finesse it makes up for in staying power. The attraction for this method is that one could continue to make that gold for as long as there was a sufficient amount of Ores available. It meant that one if they were so inclined, and if they had secured the necessary farmers, could theoretically print their own gold indefinitely. For this reason, Blizzard had to act and they did.
So what’s next?
That really depends on what’s coming down the pipeline in 4.2. There’s a few things that may cause a stir in the AH in 4.1, but I don’t think it’s going to be that big of a game changer for us. Come back next week and I’ll have some proper observations from the patch. Hate to cut it short, but I’ve got a lot of outside interests atm that need addressing. So, until next time…
THE BLOODSCALP REPORT
Things went well this week, though I admittedly did a lot of AFK shuffling to squeeze as much gold as possible out of the week. I also spent quite a bit, snatching some great deals on Pyrite and other commodities for cheap.
THIS WEEKS TOTALS
■ 11,000g – Flasks, Bags & Misc
■ 129,000g – Gems, BOEs & Enchanting Mats
140,000g – TOTAL
That’s all for this week, thanks for reading…

I know this sound dickish but green-quality gems are called “uncommons”. White-quality items are “common”.
It should be an interesting time in the AH if the price does change.
So far, no one has reliably confirmed the change to vendor values of common gems…check back tomorrow!
@Fluxdada – Not dickish at all, infact it’s technically correct – the best kind of correct. As to your point, I agree – the change in the gem vendor value is probably the most significant change (for goblins) as it directly impacts a commodity, so it’ll be interesting to see what Ore prices do in the coming weeks. Certainly more interesting than the addition of a glyph or some other similar change (documented or otherwise) in the patch notes currently.
@Anonymous – The data I’ve seen has put the cut and uncut varieties of Rare gems at a fraction of their current price. Somewhere around 75s. But, things change from PTR to Live, so I wanted to hold out till I saw the live number to post real, verifiable data.
The cut vendor price is 75s, but uncut vendor is 5G, making floor for stack of Obsidium 30G.
