SMELL THE ROSES

Welcome to Business as Usual, the weekly segment on all that glitters.
SLOWING DOWN
My level of involvement in the AH has gone down considerably this week, for several reasons. Most notably, the fact that my wife and I are moving in a few weeks. Additionally however, I’ve been getting ready for the blog’s two year anniversary on the 2nd. With that said, I’m opening up for some guest posts. If you have some gold making tip or strategy that you’d like to share, you can email me at [ horaxe at gmail dot com ].
Meanwhile, I’ve been hard at work on the AH guide and the new version of the blog. I have a couple of interviews I’m hoping to have finished as well for the big day. So, stay tuned I have a few things in store for you guys!
THE BLOODSCALP REPORT
As stated earlier, my presence has been somewhat diminished. Despite my absence I’ve managed some profits, the margin for gems has gone down unfortunately and isn’t showing any signs of rallying. I have however got my greedy fingers into pets lately and have seen some nice returns there, the profit margins are incredibly high. Especially when someone buys a Cockroach for 250g. Of course, it’s not exactly a high volume market. But from a cost vs return perspective, it’s pretty amazing. Scrolls are still doing quite well, I’ve noted an upswing in the sales of the Scrolls that require Maelstrom Crystals. No doubt a result of the Troll dungeons. Tailoring continues to perform like an early 80s Honda, it’s efficient and gets you where you’re going – but it doesn’t do it very quickly.
Lately I’ve seen Netherweave Bags going as much as 35g each, and I’ve been grabbing cloth as low as 3g per stack of twenty. However, they’re not exactly selling hand over fist (obviously). And a tuxedo piece, shirt, or similar sells occasionally as well. But not enough to notice. The best thing about Tailoring though is that it’s a high margin of profit, and I can click craft and go make a sandwich. I don’t have to babysit the crafting process. Which makes it a lot easier to stomach the low returns. This week I think I’ll invest in skilling up Tailoring, then I can start working on some of the new bags and spell threads.
STOCKPILING Yes, it’s time to stockpile again. Though certainly my 4.2 preparations are no where near as elaborate as those made for Cataclysm launch. I have directed my daily transmute efforts to Truegold. The patch brings lots of new uses for the bars and is likely to cause demand (as well as price) spike. Additionally, I’ve got my Pyrite Ore stockpile I’ve been cultivating in anticipation of epic gems. Originally I had planned on only 6 tabs worth of the Ore, however I’ve come across some deals that were quite simply too good to pass up. Hundreds of stacks at 35g each for example, how could I say no? Currently I’m sitting on twelve tabs of the unrefined Ore and if luck holds, probably another six will follow before epic gems are introduced. It’s just a question of when, and if the Epic Gems will indeed be prospected from Pyrite. At this point, I’m fine either way. At my current investment, I could prospect and profit without the epic gems in the equation.
THE MONEY SHOT
■ 5,935g – Pets
■ 11,440g – Enchanting Scrolls
■ 2,393g – Metas
■ 8,436g – Gems
■ 576g – Tailored Goods
28,783g – TOTAL
That’s all for this week, thanks for reading…
