Ok, so the use of the song 23 for this week’s update was also a bit of a lead in to this topic. I’d like to thank Alex for giving me the idea, and now I give you the whole story, edited for your computer screen – A Day in the Life of Keith

4:07 AM – Awaken from a strange dream, something about an explosion and a bathroom. Upon waking find the impetus for dream, my elderly pug has had an “accident” at the foot of the bed. Decide to pretend I’m asleep in the hopes wife will take care of it…
4:09 AM – Wife still asleep, smell unbearable. I stumble out of bed and hastily dress while leading the dog out the front door.
4:21 AM – Having cleaned up the mess and returned with the dog, I crawl back into bed. For a moment I think my wife is laughing, must’ve imagined it.
5:01 AM – Alarm goes off and wife angrily hits the snooze button.
5:06 AM – Alarm goes off again, wife still angry. Changes the alarm time and mumbles, “I’m sleepin in today”.
5:07 AM – Alarm goes off again (apparently she set it for 1 minute instead of 1 hour). I turn off the alarm clock and get up, sure that there is absolutely no way I’ll be able to go back to sleep. I make my way to the kitchen to start the coffee and grab some Cheese Danish.
5:10 AM – Armed with breakfast I move to my office (or as I call it – the Fortress of Solitude), I log into wow and load up my characters one at a time starting from the bottom of the character selection screen. With each I transmute an epic gem, and with several I make an Icy Prism – the contents of which are then placed in my personal guild bank along with the uncut epic gems.
5:15 AM – Having transmuted ten or more epic gems I transfer these to Khaas for cutting. I then switch to Khaas to cut the gems.
5:16 AM – Gems are cut and just before I can hit enter (after typing /camp) I receive the following whisper…

[Badshaman] whispers: are you a tank?
To [Badshaman]: Yes, I am.
[Badshaman] whispers: and you have Frostmourne right?
To [Badshaman]: I have Shadowmourne, yes..
[Badshaman] whispers: why?
To [Badshaman]: Because I was lucky enough to have been awarded it by my guild.
[Badshaman] whispers: but wouldn’t it be better for a dps?
To [Badshaman]: You know, no one has ever asked me that before.
To [Badshaman]: Wow, I am totally speechless against your profound logic.
[Badshaman] whispers: dude I was just asking a question
To [Badshaman]: You sir, have a gift.
To [Badshaman]: I’m going to go vendor this right now and get a more tank appropriate weapon.
To [Badshaman]: I’ve seen the light, THANK YOU!
[Badshaman] whispers: fuck you fag

5:32 AM – Switch from Khaas to my AH alt. I grab items from the mailbox, while I wait on the AH spam I have a bite of my Danish and go for more coffee.
5:38 AM – Wife is awake and pissed that I let her sleep in. I pour her a cup of coffee and give her a kiss before she leaves for work.
5:45 AM – Having opened all mail I now begin posting, I use QuickAuctions 3 so this is largely automated. I press the Post button and watch my inventory begin to empty.
5:50 AM – I begin a full scan of the Auction House with Auctioneer, at which point I leave the computer to take a shower.
6:01 AM – I return to a nearly complete AH scan, when finished I click my Snatch list and start buying. I then look for Vendor items, that is items that are being sold UNDER vendor price. Again, I buy all of these.
6:05 AM – After hitting the mailbox I sell some items to the vendor for a profit and then move other items to appropriate alts or the guild bank for processing.
6:06 AM – Log on one of my Jewelcrafters, set up auto prospecting mode and go watch TV.
7:01 AM – Ores have been processed and rings have been made, switch to Khaas for disenchant mode. Continue to watch TV.
8:01 AM – Make scrolls then send them to my AH alt.
8:20 AM – Log on AH alt and que up scrolls for sale.
8:25 AM – Switch back to Khaas and do a bit of rep farming, BGs, etc.
10:30 AM – Time for work.
5:30 PM – Get home from work and start cooking dinner (it’s a pasta night) while water heats up and meat is browning I log my AH alt to reset auctions.
5:35 PM – Auctions settled and gold collected, I transfer the gold back to the guild bank and head back to the kitchen.
5:50 PM – Wife’s home and dinner’s ready. We watch a show on the DVR while we eat then we both have to get to work.
6:25 PM – I log on to Khaas and get in vent, scan the guild site for AFK posts and distribute any last minute EPGP before the raid starts.
6:30 PM – Hit the button and invite all members of raider status (love oRA 3 addon).
6:45 PM – Begin wondering wtf the healers are.
6:55 PM – Executive decision is made, last healer is replaced with someone from the bench.
7:15 PM – Ready to pull Marrowgar, the “last healer” logs on and asks wtf we didn’t save a spot for him.
9:03 PM – We call time for a fifteen minute break. Wife’s busy grading papers so I grab a quick snack and a less quick kiss before returning to the computer.
9:15 PM – Apparently I’m an asshole for not enchanting the boots in my trade window.
9:18 PM – Where’s Threedrakez and Nevick?
9:31 PM – Threedrakez says in vent, “Sorry, the line at Taco Bell was retarded. Wait, why didn’t you guys clear trash?”
10:55 PM – Raid is over, bonus EP is assigned and I begin Enchanting and Cutting gems for those that got upgrades.
11:00 PM – I’m summoned to the officer Vent Channel where some issues are discussed, while surreptitiously logging back to my AH alt.
11:09 PM – I relist auctions again and run another scan. Mail off the items for processing and log off.
11:30 PM – Having let the dog out to do his business and brought the big dog in from the backyard (we have a Mastiff as well as the Pug), I check the locks and the lights then snuggle into bed with my wife…

As You Can See
On nights where I both work and raid, things get a bit tight. However, we only raid twice per week so Tuesdays and Thursdays are the only days where this even can be a problem. Weekends however, I pretty much belong to my wife, I’ll do my regular daily xmutes but little else. Other days are fairly random – some days I work, some I don’t. But everyday I pretty much follow the same basic routine, checking the AH 3 times per day (roughly) and really only crafting things in the mornings. And some days, the ten year old pug lets me sleep in. Hope you enjoyed this little peak into my daily life.
