What Signifies My Deadly-Standing Eye

GUILD.news
It looks like recruitment is finally closing for a while, we have a good batch of new members including the final piece of my tanking crew, a warrior named Vazer, an alliance xfer (though I’m not gonna hold that against him). Now I just have to keep Rukar from scaring him off, or depressing him into a coma with warrior QQ. Seriously though, I’m pretty excited to have a second raiding warrior in the guild, I’ve always liked the class. And I’ve never understood really why we’ve had such a hard time getting good warriors, I have my suspicions: and they’re not Ruqqar related (not really).

Another great thing happened this week… When trying to find a hunter to replace the gaping hole left in the lamentable absence of Aahz, we got a nice app from what I’m expecting to be a capable raiding hunter named Noreason.

AND!

Aahz came back! Welcome back you beast.

ALT.news
I’ve been busy working on my alts, I’m up to 7/10 80s now. Last three (Rogue, Hunter, Warlock) should be pretty easy. I already have heirloom XP gear for each of them, the rogue and lock of course being my old mains are already in epic gear. Unfortunately, in the case of the lock it’s level 60 epics that’ll be replaced in about a day in Outlands.

Druid
Mage
Paladin

Now that all of the alts are getting levelled, it’s time to prepare for tradeskills. With this many alts, you have to ask yourself a serious question (with regards to tradeskills): Do you want to min/max? Do you want to make sure you have ready access to every tradeskill? My tanks are the most likely to be played at anything resembling a serious level, being the guild MT if we’re doing an alt run it makes things a little easier if I’m on my warrior or something. I don’t have to really switch roles, just how I approach the role, which is refreshing in itself.

That being said, I’ve decided to min/max the tanks: DK – JC/Enc, War – Mining/Smithing, Druid – Mining/JC, Pal – Mining/JC. That leaves me with 6 characters (or 12 profession slots) to play with, easilly enough to cover the remaining professions and their respective gathering skills. The other alts are now trained as follows: Shaman – Alchemy (XMute Master)/Herb, Mage – Inscriptions/Tailoring, Rogue – LW/Skinning, Priest – Herb/Skinning, Hunter – Eng/Mining, Warlock – Herb/Skinning.
+ Upon further consideration, I’ve decided to drop mining on my warrior in favor of Jewelcrafting. Because 4 Dragons Eyes per day is just win. And I’ve already got plenty of miners to cover the gathering.

As you can see, this gives me access to all of the skills and doubles up on some of the gathering professions. This also leaves me open, if Blizzard ever decides to add a new profession I can easily drop skinning or herbalism from one of my alts for it.

And so repose, sweet gold, for their unrest
I’ve been chipping away at the old honey-do list (things I want to do before Cataclysm). One of those goals however is to get as much gold as possible (and hopefully hit the gold cap) before the xpac. No mean feat, but this week I got to work in earnest. It helps that my alts are getting closer and closer to all being 80, I’m working up their tradeskills which is going to help the whole situation immensely. I sent Miraru 1K in seed money for Inscriptions. I also cleaned out my personal guild bank. By the time I woke up, I’d made over 6K (profit) and the mage was at 200 Inscriptions. Today I’ll be back at it, seeing how far I can push the Inscription levelling and hopefully collect some more successful auctions (I’ve still got over 200 auctions ranging from 20-60g).

Things were going so well in fact, that the mage had already cleared 3K by the time I was finished skilling up to 200.

Going Ape
It’s been a good week, and I didn’t even get any loot. No, seriously. I leave you now, with a parting shot. Our raid invites start 30 minutes before raid time, and I (try) to sit myself in front of the north bank in Dal to dole out flasks and other incidental things that need to be taken care of before the raid (guild donations usually happen just before the raid starts too). So, I’ve started setting myself on the steps, naked, with my Sulf hammer. An albino with a flaming hammer kinda sticks out, amirite? For a little extra, I’ll just go ape by clicking my magic monkey ball trinket. Well, Tuesday I was doing this and I started getting some really weird responses. I only screenshotted this guy, because his apparent in credulousness touched me. But I’ve noticed more and more if I whip out that mace, it gets some attention lol. Almost as much as riding a Harley in Colorado.

+ P.S. Apparently I’m 30 now, my birthday kinda snuck up on me.

See you next week…
